"Coca-Cola company ko shuru karne wala ek shikanji bechne wala vyakti tha America mein Shikanji bechta thaPani mein chini mila ke shikanji benchta tha"
"McDonald company kisne chalu kiya tha kya karta tha who pahle koi mujhe bata sakta hai?Dhaba chalata tha America mein dhaba chalata tha"

These words by the Congress president Rahul Gandhi, while addressing the OBC convention in New Delhi on Monday has created quite a stir on social media.
How correct is Rahul about the humble origins of these two biggest multinational- giants in food and beverage industry? Well, here are the facts.
COCA-COLA
Coca-Cola according to the company's own website was invented by an American pharmacist Dr. John S. Pemberton in 1886. On May 8th, 1886, Coca-Cola was first served in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. John S Pemberton, a local pharmacist, produced the syrup for Coca-Cola and carried a jug of the new product down the street to Jacobs' Pharmacy, where it was sampled, pronounced "excellent" and placed on sale for five cents a glass as a soda fountain drink. Dr. Pemberton was the man who invented the Coca Cola , but he could not exploit the full potential from his discovery. He sold all the stakes in the company before he passed away in 1888. An American businessman Asa Candler bought all the stakes from Pemberton. He is the man credited for making Coca Cola what it is today.
The formula was kept a close secret, shared only with a small group and not written down and kept in a secret vault. It was only on 2012, on the 125th anniversary of Coca-Cola, the company decided to bring people closer to its secret. In Coca-Cola company's own words "Though the actual secret formula is destined to remain a mystery to most of the world, the exhibit, "The Vault of the Secret Formula," offers insight into the intrigue behind Coca-Cola's most closely guarded trade secret."
